Situation des principaux centres ornithologiques en Israël

Israël est un haut-lieu de l'observation de la migration des oiseaux entre l'Europe de l'est et l'Afrique de l'Est.
La Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (ioclaya@netvision.net.il) nous transmet chaque mois une synthèse des observations ornithologiques remarquables du pays.
Le mois d'octobre est un mois très actif pour observer les oiseaux dans l'état hébreu : les migrateurs passent encore, et les premiers hivernants sont arrivés. Ainsi, dans la vallée d'Hula, au nord, autour de 10 000 Grues cendrées (Grus grus) et quelques 6 000 Pélicans Blancs (Pelecanus onocrotalus) avaient déjà traversé la vallée. Dans les petits étangs du Kibboutz Zora'a, les trois espèces de marouettes ont été observées en 24 heures, et non loin de là, à Jérusalem, les visiteurs ont pu assister à un spectacle étonnant : une jeune Poule-d'eau a mangé un Pouillot fitis !
Enfin, le mois a été exceptionnel pour le nombre de Gobemouches nains (Ficedula parva) observés : près de 25 oiseaux.

Abstract

Birding News from Israel : October 2006.
- The rare birds news through the country with the website www.israbirding.com.
- The Israel Ornithological Center, Hula Valley. October was a great month for birdwatching trips! The team travelled to different parts of the country (Ma'agan Michael on the coast, the Bet Shean Valley), following the migrating birds.
- The Hula Birdwatching Center, Hula.
It is already the end of October and birds keep on coming; around 10,000 Common Cranes (Grus grus) and some 6,000 Great White Pelicans have already passed the Valley. About the same number of Cranes is still in the Hula Valley and many more of them and of the Pelicans should soon pass by. Raptors also keep on moving with small groups of Steppe Buzzards (Buteo buteo vulpinus), joined by few Lesser Spotted (Aquila pomarina) and Spotted Eagles (Aquila clanga), Booted Eagles (Hieraaetus pennatus) and all 4 species of Harriers.
- The Jerusalem Bird Observatory (JBO), Jérusalem. The new pond attracts more and more birds, with for example a Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus), arrived in the beginning of October and performing daily till the middle of the month. The second wave of Redstarts (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) arrived, making them the majority at the JBO and all around. The first wave, in August was all of the Middle Eastern subspecies "samamisicus" and the second is mostly of the nominate. In October an ecological camp was held on Kibbutz Zora'a and over 300 birds were ringed (banded) in 24 hours, mostly Barn Swallows but also some Sand Martins (Riparia riparia) , Willow Warblers, Reed Warblers (Acrocephalus scirpaceus), Common Kingfishers and more. The place has the best little ponds for rails and crakes and all of them were seen. And an strange event : a juvenile Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) was seen snatching a Willow Warbler from a branch, threwing it into the water and eating it in front of 40 bewildered onlookers…….
- Gamla Nature Reserve, Golan. At Gamla the courtship season is just beginning and we see signs of the Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus) examining the old material in last season's nests. We still see last season's parents feeding their fledglings, so this month is definitely an "in-between" season. A Black Vulture (Aegypius monachus) and a White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) have been seen several times in the Gamla.
- Kibbutz Lotan Centre for Birdwatching. Fall migration hits its peak in southern Israel and the team launched the birdtours season with a short tour aimed at covering the most productive areas in southern Israel : and the participants were not disappointed !

Voici une synthèse des meilleurs observations ornithos du mois d'octobre, réalisée par Avner Cohen et Tomer Landsberger, basée sur des données de la liste ISRABIRDNET et d'autres sources.

- Fou brun (Sula leucogaster): un au large de la North Beach d'Eilat le 30/10 (E. Dovrat).
- Cigone blanche (Ciconia ciconia): un oiseau bagué en Allemagne le 24/06/77 a été observé sur les étangs de Ma'agan Michael le 26/10 (A. Ben Dov).
- Pygargue à queue blanche (Haliaeetus albicilla): un en migration active au-dessus de Vardon, près de Kiriat-Gat, le 4/10 (R. Shaish).
- Aigle ravisseur (Aquila rapax): un possible a été vu au dessus de la plantation de dattiers d'Eilat le 30/10 (E. Dovrat et al.).
- Barge rousse (Limosa lapponica): deux dans les marais salants d'Atlit le 30/10 (S. Haham).
- Phalarope à bec étroit (Phalaropus lobatus): un à Ma'agan Michael le 10/10 (M. Craig).
- Sterne à joues blanches (Sterna repressa): une au large de North Beach d'Eilat le 30/10 (E. Dovrat).
- Guifette noire (Chlidonias niger): une à Ma'agan Michael le 10/10 (M. Craig).
- Alouette gulgule (Alauda gulgula): jusqu'à cinq dans les champs circulaires de Yotvata le 25/10 (M. Craig, J. Meirav et al.); une dans le bassin de décantation de Bahad le 19/10 (B. Granit, A. Tsairi).
- Pouillot à grands sourcils (Phylloscopus inornatus): un vu près des résidences étudiantes du collège de Sde-Boker le 15/10 (D. Burns); un près des bassins de décantation de Mitzpe Ramon le 21/10 (A. Ben-Dov, E. Dovrat, Rony Livne); un attrapé dans la station de baguage d'Eilat le 30/10 (N. Weiss et al.).

- Gobemouche nain (Ficedula parva): une bonne saison pour cette espèce, avec près de 25 oiseaux dans la vallée de l'Arava, dans le Negev, dans le secteur de Jérusalem et même dans la région de Dan, surtout après le 19/10.
- Pie-grièche isabelle (Lanius isabellinus): un adulte dans les salines d'Atlit à partr du 27/10 (Y. Wasserlauf et al.); un adulte, probablement le même qu'en 2005, bagué au bassin de décantation de Tirat-Tzvi le 18/10 (K. Merom); un près des piscicultures de Gesher le 26/10 (D. Porat); un adulte près du bassin de décantation de Yahel, vallée de l'Arava, le 28/10 (T. Kahn).
- Roselin cramoisi (Carpodacus erythrinus): un attrapé et bagué à la station d'Eilat le 3/10 (N. Weiss et al.).
